The Fontenay Hamburg is a real dream, there isn’t a better hotel in Hamburg. It is a prestigious and luxurious hotel, equipped with every comfort and an exclusive atmosphere. On the shores of Lake Alster, it has 130 spacious and elegantly furnished rooms and suites.
The architecture is elegant with harmonious shapes. Architect Jan Störmer wanted to create a “Hotel in the Park” combining luxury, comfort and green spaces.
The staff
The Fontenay staff is what really value your stay. Thanks to their kindness they made everything impeccable, they took care of us and all our needs with courtesy and professionalism. Everything has been perfect, from the moment of check-in and until check-out we were pampered and treated like the most important guests of the entire hotel.
Upon our arrival we were accompanied to our room by Nicky, responsible of the Consierge desk, whose job is to make your stay unforgettable. She showed us the room amenities and booked a time slot to access the pool (due to restrictions from Covid-19 it is necessary to book it in advance).
Rooms
All the rooms are welcoming and bright, thanks to full-height windows that allow natural light to enter. The rooms are very elegant, furnished with pastel-colored furniture in shades of turquoise, blue, gray, beige and gold. They feature design objects created by the Danish brand Georg Jensen and original art works by the Peruvian painter Antonio Máro.
Our room, a Fontenay Deluxe Alster, was perfect; equipped with a walk-in closet (which I loved), make-up station, phone of the famous Ghd brand, bathrobe and slippers, bathroom products by la Biosthetique, plasma TV, room service 24 hours a day, free minibar and machine of Nespresso coffee. The bathroom was one of the highlights of the room, with a walk-in shower, it even had a button to play music. The room had also a balcony furnished with a table and sofas to relax and enjoy the view of the Alster Lake.
Breakfast
My expectations for the breakfast were very high. We ordered two Fontenay breakfasts in the room by 9:30. The punctuality and care of the composition of the tray were amazing.
Our breakfast included: a basket of croissants, pain au chocolat and different types of bread, fresh orange juice, yogurt, scrambled eggs, cold cuts (ham and cheeses) and salmon, jam, honey and berries. The croissants and pain au chocolate were worthy of one of the best French patisseries, crumbly and tasty.
SPA
The Fontenay Hamburg has a 1,000 m2 spa on the top floor, a true oasis of peace and well-being. Featuring an indoor and partially uncovered 20 meter long infinity pool with views of the Hamburg skyline, a terrace to relax on, several relaxation areas, sauna and a steam room.
Our stay was unforgettable and perfect in every aspect. They managed to exceed my best expectations, I am not exaggerating when I say that it is the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
